I may live in a DC suburb, but I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic for Baltimore today. My dad called and told me that one of my favorite places in the city was featured in USA today for Best Breakfasts in the USA. Paper Moon Diner a absolutely amazing restaurant near Johns Hopkins, which is also near my high school. They’re design aesthetic: eclectic, artistic, toy store, vintage crazyness. It can’t be explained. It must be seen and tasted.

After talking to him I came across these brick backsplashes that made me long (even moreso) for a Baltimore row home on federal hill. It has always been a dream of mine to buy an old row home (with a rooftop deck overlooking the harbor) and fix it up to modern standards.
These kitchens with brick backsplashes would be an awesome renovation in just such a case.
